Normally I wouldn’t write about a Walmart getting put in. But I have been in the San Carlos area for over 8 years now and a lot has changed in that time. I remember when I first got here there were hardly any good places to eat, bad grocery stores, expensive electronics, and overpriced clothes. So our solution was to buy clothes and electronics in the USA when we visited my family. (We still do that actually.) But the grocery store situation has gotten a lot better. This new Walmart going in makes it so we don’t need to go into Alajuela or Heredia anymore just to get basic stuff that we can’t find here. The only thing we need now is a Pricesmart (Costco-like) and maybe an international airport (not happening anytime soon). Oh, and that new San Carlos highway they have been working on for 20 years would be nice if they finished that as well. But in the meantime, it is nice having the Walmart. By the looks of the crowds there, I don’t think I am the only one who thinks so.
